Ahimsa House currently has no open paid positions. However, we are currently seeking an Intern (see description below).

Program Services Intern

Openings: 1

• Start: Recruiting for Summer 2011
• Length: Minimum of one semester
• Location: Ahimsa House administrative office in Decatur, GA. Partial telecommuting is an option. Some travel may be required.
• Hours: Flexible
• Wage: Unpaid

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work closely with Program Services Coordinator and Executive Director on one or more special projects that may include:

• Calling veterinarians and boarding facilities statewide to discuss Ahimsa House and establish/strengthen working relationships
• Networking with social services and animal protection organizations statewide
• Revising and implementing foster home recruitment plan
• Writing content for Ahimsa House newsletter and press releases for external media outlets
• Providing coverage for Ahimsa House 24-hour crisis line

Additional opportunities may include:

• Attending Board meetings
• Attending Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence membership meetings and local Family Violence Task Force meetings
• Assisting with special events
• Assisting with case coordination
• Assisting with transport of animals

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including ability to manage data in Excel
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
